It feels like I’ve been out of the writing game for a while, but I’m back in action again - with a bit of a plot twist. 

I just got a mental and emotional tune-up at the oh-so-posh San Pellegrino spa. Yes, you heard it right, a fancy-pants health spa set amidst the captivating mountains in northern Italy. But before you get carried away with the glamorous visions of what my day was like, let me clarify something: it was rejuvenating and eye-opening, but not in the way you might expect.

Let's Talk Stress, Baby


Stress is like that friend who overstays their welcome at the party. At first, stress might have seemed useful, pushing you to meet deadlines or solve problems. But sooner or later, you find yourself wishing you could show it the door. As the years add up, so does the weight of life's stresses, and those stressors start to feel less like a passing cloud and more like a permanent storm. But listen up: research isn't just for dusty journals. The science of stress tells us that it’s not just a nagging feeling; it's a health hazard, especially as we age. From heart issues to a weakened immune system, stress can become an unwelcome guest in your physiology, too.

1. Embrace the Great Nothingness: During my spa day, I sat quietly, with nothing but my thoughts for company (well, Ian was there too, but I decided to give him some peace and quiet for a change). No phone, no social media, just space for my brain to do its thing. Turns out, the art of doing nothing is a lost form of luxury, and it's high time we reclaimed it.

2. The Courage to Be Imperfect: Life's messy, and that's not just okay; it's normal. The more you try to control the chaos, the more tangled you become in it. So, let's give ourselves permission to not have it all together, all the time.

3. You, on Top of the To-Do List: What’s been gathering dust on your priority list? If it’s your health, then it’s time for a reality check. Your well-being isn’t a “someday” project. It’s a right-here, right-now necessity. Spoiler alert: life won’t pause and wait for you to catch up.
